New Cryo‑EM Capabilities at IIMCB

The Preclinical Drug Development Facility (PDU), IN-MOL-CELL at the International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology (IIMCB) has recently expanded its infrastructure with advanced cryoelectron microscopy equipment, opening new opportunities for highresolution structural biology research.

The centerpiece of this investment is the Thermo Scientific Glacios™ 2 Cryo-Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM), a nextgeneration instrument designed for modern cryoEM applications. With a resolution of up to 2 Å, Glacios 2 enables detailed visualization of biomolecular structures and supports a wide range of techniques, including singleparticle analysis (SPA) and cryoelectron tomography (cryoET). Integrated Smart EPU software streamlines and automates data acquisition, significantly increasing throughput and efficiency while ensuring consistently highquality datasets.

The cryoEM workflow is further enhanced by the Leica EM GP2, a highprecision plungefreezing system for reproducible preparation of cryoEM samples. The instrument provides precise control over temperature and humidity, enabling the formation of optimal vitreous ice and maximizing data quality.

Together, these new instruments establish a complete, stateoftheart cryoEM platform at IIMCB. We are proud to offer this cuttingedge infrastructure to support innovative research projects and strengthen national and international scientific collaborations. Visit us: https://pdu.iimcb.gov.pl/.
