Laboratory of RNA Biology at the International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology (IIMCB), Warsaw, headed by Professor Andrzej Dziembowski is looking for a PhD Student. You will join the project entitled: “Oncogenic mechanisms of DIS3 mutations” which is carried out as the MAESTRO (UMO-2016/22/A/NZ4/00380) grant of the Polish National Science Centre.

The aim of this project is to understand how mutations in DIS3 promote tumor formation.

Laboratory interest: Research of the Laboratory of RNA Biology focuses on the regulation of gene expression at the posttranscriptional level. We are currently studying RNA biology at the organismal level using transgenic mouse lines as a main research model. More info can be found at:

As a PhD Student you will be involved in functional studies on transgenic animals.

Candidates will be selected according to the procedure in an open competition, complying the rules for granting scholarships for young scientists in research projects funded by the National Science Centre (NCN Council Resolution No. 50/2013 dated June 3, 2013 r.) and the procedure complying with the rules of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers as a part of HR Excellence

Requirements for candidate:

  • MSc degree in biology, biotechnology or related area of science

  • Hands-on experience in work with transgenic mice models

  • Eligibility for PhD studies in Poland and PhD student status at the time of employment

  • High motivation, analytical skills and independent thinking

  • Ability to work in a team, good organization of work

  • Have very good written and oral communication skills in English

We offer:

  • Full-time PhD scholarship for at least for 6 months

  • Total gross scholarship in amount 3700 PLN/month
